great poster featuring The Beatles playing at the Kaiserkeller, Hamburg
in Germany. The Kaiserkeller is located at 39 Grosse Freiheit, St. Pauli,
Hamburg. It was opened by Bruno Koschmider on October 14th 1959. The
first British band to play at the club was The Jets on 6th June 1960.
They were so popular, Bruno quickly staged Derry and the Seniors and
on 1st October 1960 Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. It was only 3 days
after Rory Storm played the Kaiserkeller that The Beatles took to the
stage on 4th October 1960. They played for 1 hour solid, then swapping
with Rory Storm, and then back on stage. It was here that Klaus Voormann
, Astrid Kirchherr and Jurgen Vollmer first watched The Beatles perform.
A great poster advertising The Beatles, playing at the 'Subscription
Rooms' in Stroud, Gloucestershire in the UK on March 31st 1962. Paul
McCartney once described this gig as the worst in Beatle history, claiming
that local Teddy Boys had thrown coins at them as they played.
