The
Beatles, playing at the Palais Ballroom, Queens Road in Aldershot on
December 9th 1961. This was one of the first times the Beatles played
in the South of England, and it was local promoter Sam Leach's idea
to publicise Mersey groups in the South, in order to give top agents
the opportunity of seeing them perform live. This was the first in a
series of shows at the venue, and because the planned advertisement
for the gig didn't appear in the local paper, only 18 people turned
up!!
